Pillpal links two phones with a one-time 6-character invite code. The caregiver creates the code; the person taking the medicines enters it. That's the only setup the patient ever has to do — from then on, the caregiver manages everything and both phones stay in sync.
On the caregiver's phone
- Choose "I look after someone's medicines" when setting up the app (or open the Care tab later).
- The app shows your invite code — tap Share invite. The message includes an install link and the code.
- You don't have to wait: add medicines and schedules right away. Everything transfers to your loved one's phone the moment they connect.
On the patient's phone
- Install Pillpal from the link (App Store or Google Play).
- Choose "Someone sent me a code" during setup.
- Sign in, then type the 6-character code. Done — the app switches to a simple, senior-friendly view with one decision per screen.
Troubleshooting
- "That code didn't work." Codes are one-time and expire for safety. Ask the caregiver to open the app and share a fresh one — it takes ten seconds.
- Creating a code needs a connection. If the caregiver's phone is offline, the app shows a Retry button — reconnect and try again.
- Managing on your own? Choose "I take medicines myself" instead — you get the full management view for your own routine, no code needed.
- Ending a connection. Either side can disconnect at any time (caregiver: Settings → Family; patient: Family tab).
Privacy
Pairing shares dose activity between the two connected accounts only — nothing is visible to anyone else. Details in theprivacy policy.
